Wanted Vero Beach sex offender captured

Offender

VERO BEACH, FL – On October 14, 2021, the Vero Beach Police Department issued a be-on-the-look-out reference Thomas Melton. Melton had an active warrant for violation of an injunction for protection. Melton is also a registered sexual offender and on probation for multiple counts of lewd or lascivious battery and molestation from a prior 2013 case.

Once Melton knew his warrant was active, he cut off his electronic ankle monitor and made statements to associates he was going to flee the state.

Detectives with our Fugitive Apprehension Unit immediately started working to find Melton. On 10/25/2021, detectives located and arrested Melton before he could flee our jurisdiction.
