Fugitive teen wanted in Camden murder found in Newport News

Camden, N.J. – A fugitive wanted for his role in a Camden homicide has been captured in Virginia, announced Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

Michael Allen, 19, of Collingswood was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (Norfolk, VA) Thursday at a residence in Newport News, Virginia.

Allen was charged on October 29th with First-Degree Murder in the death of 28-year-old Lamont Demby of Camden.


Demby was fatally shot in the area of Jackson Street and Warsaw Street at approximately 3:21 p.m. on October 22nd. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 4:11 p.m.

Allen is currently being held in Virginia and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
