VERO BEACH, FL – Police have made an arrest in a Friday night shooting at a Vero Beach hookah bar.

The Indian River Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement:

At approximately 0200 hours on Friday, November 5, 2021, deputies responded to the Good Vibes Kava and Hookah Bar in response to a shots fired call. On scene, deputies spoke with two employees who stated they were in the process of closing the business and getting ready to leave. Once in the parking lot, a male approached them and was told the business was closed. The male then displayed a firearm and fired at them before fleeing the scene.

Detectives with our Criminal Investigation Division immediately began working the incident. With the help of uniformed patrol, Jacolby Dunbar was almost immediately identified as a suspect.

Dunbar, a former employee of the establishment, has been involved in other disturbance related incidents during which he was issued a trespass warning and informed not to return by the owners. Dunbar, who is also a convicted felon, is currently on probation related to battery on a law enforcement officer, battery by strangulation (domestic violence), resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.

At around 1430 hours the same day, Jacolby Dunbar was taken into custody by members of our SWAT team without incident.

Dunbar was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and trespass on property. He is currently being held without bond at the Indian River County Jail.
