TOMS RIVER, NJ – The Ocean County Health Department this week shared a “Recipe for Thanksgiving 2021” that makes “One happy and healthy holiday.” That holiday advice includes keeping your unvaccinated friends and family away for the holidays.

The OCHD is recommending that anyone aged 5 and up gets vaccinated before the big day arrives. If you’re eligible for a booster shot, the OCHD says you should get one. If you’re not eligible, what the heck, Governor Phil Murphy says you can get a booster too.

The OCHD also recommends wearing a mask when grocery shopping and in any public space or indoor location. Before you eat, make sure you wash your hands.

When planning your big Thanksgiving dinner with all of your relatives and friends, do it outside, the OCHD recommends.

“Outdoors is safer than indoors–enjoy a picnic or other outdoor activities, weather permitting,” the recipe shared by the OCHD reads.

When it comes to your guest list, the OCHD recipe recommends you have open conversations with friends and family about their vaccination status. Don’t be afraid to lay out your COVID-19 ground rules clearly.

“Communicate in advance with guests about your COVID-19 ground rules and the precautions you’re taking,” the recipe says.

Don’t forget, put all those unvaccinated kids at their own table. Lastly, if you have children who are too young to get vaccinated, stay home, delay travel get tested before and after your trip.
