Hagerstown Man $50K Richer After Giving Scratch-offs a Try

HAGERSTOWN, MARYLAND – A Washington County man who sometimes plays Pick 3Powerball, Keno and other Maryland Lottery draw games said he wasn’t much of a scratch-off fan, but that may be changing after he got a “feeling” about the instant games in late October.

“I have no idea why, but I kept thinking about scratch-off tickets,” said the caregiver from Hagerstown.

The 38-year-old stopped at The Corner Pub in Hagerstown one day after work and decided to give in to the “feeling” that he should buy a scratch-off. “I had a $5 bill in my hand and picked out the first $5 ticket I saw.”

Lottery luck made that game Multiplier Money, an instant ticket that debuted in July. Scratching off his instant ticket later at home, he couldn’t believe his eyes. Not only was the scratch-off a winner, but he won one of the game’s $50,000 top prizes.

“I rubbed my eyes to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing,” he said. Sleeping was a challenge that night because of “so much adrenaline, so much excitement.”

The Multiplier Money game has three more unclaimed $50,000 top prizes along with nine remaining $5,000 winners. The site of our winner’s Lottery luck, The Corner Pub at 158 South Mulberry Street in Hagerstown, will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a $50,000 top-prize winning scratch-off.
