PORTLAND, OR – Police shot and killed an armed carjacker in Portland after he shot and killed a woman earlier.

On Monday, December 6, 2021, shortly before 10 a.m., Portland Police responded to I-5 in the area of Rosa Parks Way regarding an armed suspect involved in multiple carjackings. During the commission of one of the carjackings, the suspect fired a shot which injured a victim. The victim is being treated at an area hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The deceased suspect is identified as Brandon L. Keck, 30. His family has been notified of his death and provided the attached photograph of him for public release.

Detectives continue to investigate the chain of events involving Keck and investigative work on those events is ongoing. They’ve determined that the female victim who reported that she had been shot was not in fact injured by gunfire. They’re working to determine the cause of her injury.

A video of the incident was shared by Andy Ngo.

“Shocking video captures the moment Portland Police officers shoot and kill an armed suspect who had shot a woman during a carjacking in Portland, Ore. on 6 Dec., 2021. As the suspect attempts to flee on the highway, the police shoot through the car window, striking him. Officer John Huges has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation into his use of force. On social media, antifa and far-left accounts are furious the police killed the man,” Ngo said. “Public safety is at an all-time low in Portland after the city defunded police last year and abolished the unit that deals with gun violence. (All this was done by the city council in the name of racial justice.) This year, the city surpassed its all-time record for murders.”
