Silver Spring Woman’s Crossword Letters Line Up for $100K Win

SILVER SPRING, MARYLAND – A Montgomery County player found Lottery luck hiding in a crossword scratch-off last week when she picked it up along with other items at Long Branch Beer & Wine in Silver Spring. While there, she purchased seven different scratch-off games and walked away with a $100,000 top prize.

The big winner, who works in construction, said she doesn’t play scratch-offs often but decided to on that day. One of the instant tickets was a $100,000 Crossword 5th Edition game that the lucky lady scratched off in the store. That popular game gave the Silver Spring resident her exciting $100,000 top-prize win.

“I really didn’t expect that at all,” said the single mother of three. “I was so surprised.”

After realizing she won, the player went straight home to find out the steps to take to claim her big prize. She made an appointment to visit Lottery headquarters right away and claimed the $100,000 prize this week.

When interviewed by Lottery officials, the winner said she knew exactly what she planned to do with the windfall. “I’m going to save it,” she said, “put it right in the bank.”

The Lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket is getting a prize of sorts, too. Long Branch Beer & Wine located at 649 University Boulevard East in Silver Spring earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning instant ticket at the $100,000 level.

Many more prizes await discovery in this edition of the $100,000 Crossword game. The $10 scratch-off has five more $100,000 top prizes remaining along with f15 unclaimed $10,000 prizes and hundreds of thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
