Suspect who fired gun at four teenagers last week captured by police

CHAPIN, SC – In reference to the shooting incident that occurred on December 9, 2021, at 1235 Chapin Road the suspect, Kamron Woods, of Columbia, has been arrested. Woods was charged with four counts of attempted murder as well as discharging a firearm into a vehicle and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. This shooting stems from an interaction that took place between the suspect and four juvenile victims in the parking lot of 1235 Chapin Road on December 9, 2021.

During the interaction Woods produced a handgun causing the juvenile victims to flee in their vehicle. Woods then opened fire on the vehicle striking it numerous times narrowly missing the victims inside. The Chapin Police Department is thankful for the quick response and thorough investigation by our officers, as well as the assistance throughout this case that was provided by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Victims in this case are juveniles and will not be identified. Woods is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center and was given a bond of $250,000. If Woods is able to post bond, when released, he will be actively monitored by GPS and will only be allowed to leave his residence at certain times and for a particular reason as described by his bond. Woods is also prohibited from having any contact with the victims in this case.
