Ron DeSantis responds to AOC’s criticism of Governor’s ‘vacation’ while wife received chemotherapy

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis responded to criticism of his day off last Wednesday to accompany his wife to her chemotherapy treatment in Miami. One of his biggest critics has been former bartender turned Congresswoman Sandy Cortez of New York. Cortez was spotted vacationing in Florida despite railing against DeSantis’ COVID-19 policies.

“I think if I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man,” DeSantis said. “Let me tell you, Congress people, mayors, governors, I mean, you name it.”

AOC’s Florida Vacation

DeSantis said he is frequently tipped off to lockdown politicians vacationing in his state and most of the time, those trips don’t make headlines.

“I think a lot of Floridians say, ‘wait a minute you’re bashing us because we’re not doing your draconian policies and yet we’re the first place you want to flee to?’ To be able to to enjoy life and so I’m not surprised to see that continue to happen,” he added. “I could tell you, I mean you know, there are probably about a half-dozen governors who had restrictions on their people and then were spotted at various points in Florida. Some of its been public, some of it’s not been public but you know people tell me this things.”

Disclaimer: I don’t want to date AOC. I already have two children to deal with on a daily basis.
