Nanny stole $15,000 from family that she worked for, police

SMITHTOWN, NY – A Patchogue woman has been arrested after she stole more than $15,000 worth of jewelry from a Smithtown family that employed her as a nanny.

Following an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives Amparo Hoyos Garcia, 69, was charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree for the thefts that occurred between December 22 and January 19. She is employed by multiple families as a nanny as well as a housecleaner.

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may be a victim of Hoyos Garcia to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
