Red Bank’s Towne and Country Deli destroyed in morning fire

RED BANK, NJ – A Red Bank business was destroyed in a fire Saturday morning. The Towne and Country Deli, located in a plaza on Shrewsbury Avenue caught fire at around 6 a.m. The adjacent laundromat also suffered damage in the fire.

Red Bank Fire Department Chief Ferraro said, “Efforts were also hampered by the below-freezing conditions which quickly turned the water on the ground to ice and a hand line so frozen it had to be transported to the station in a member’s pickup truck.”

The Red Bank Fire Department reported, “Just before 6am the department responded to a fire in a single story commercial building. Utilizing two (2) 1.75inch hand lines the bulk of the fire was quickly knocked down and placed under control by approximately 6:30am. Members remained on scene till after 10am to extinguish stubborn pockets of fire in the roof. E.”
