TOMS RIVER, NJ – In the newly drawn 4th Congressional District that now includes more towns in Ocean County, including Toms River and Brick, Tricia Flanagan is mounting a challenge to Republican Congressman Chris Smith. Smith, a centerline politician with 42 years in public office is now facing the ire of the Trump inner circle, including former President Donald Trump himself.
In November, Trump slammed Chris Smith for voting in favor of the Biden/Pelosi/Schumer infrastructure bill. Smith was one of several Republicans on Trump’s hit list who voted with the Democrats.
“Any interest from good and SMART America First Republican Patriots to run primary campaigns against Representatives Tom Rice, John Katko, Don Bacon, Don Young, Fred Upton (challenge accepted), Andrew Garbarino, Peter Meijer (challenge accepted), David McKinley (challenge accepted), Nancy Mace, Jaime Herrera Beutler (challenge accepted) and Chris Smith? You will have my backing! Gonzalez, Kinzinger, and Reed already QUIT, they are out of politics, hopefully for good,” Trump said. “Warmonger Liz Cheney (challenge accepted) is on the SKIDS with a 19% approval rating. Flanagan this week received the endorsement from Trump Ally, Retired U.S.Army General Michael Flynn.
“I strongly and wholeheartedly endorse Tricia Flanagan to represent New Jersey’s 4th congressional district,” Flynn said. “She is the right candidate to go up against current RINO Chris Smith.”
Flynn called Smith a weak “Democrat-Lite” Republican who spent 42 years “in the D.C. swamp” and votes in line with Nancy Pelosi.
The general said he views Flanagan’s campaign as a part of the puzzle needed for Republicans to take back the House and Senate in the 2022 midterms.
“The 2022 midterm is one of the most elections in America’s history,” Flynn said. “Please join me in supporting Tricia Flanagan. She’s a fighter, she’s a patriot, and she’s exactly who we need to remove a useless politician in New Jersey and take back our great country.”
