MIAMI, FL – A Miami man suspected of stealing nearly a $1,000 worth of designer fragrances from Ulta Beauty on the East Trail last week returned to the store Wednesday and was promptly taken into custody by deputies after being recognized by store employees.

Employees contacted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 5 p.m. while Leroy Minnis, 33, was still inside the store at 13100 U.S. 41 E., Suite 101. Deputies responded quickly and were able to detain Minnis before he could leave.

Employees told detectives they recognized Minnis as the same person who shoplifted $944 worth of designer fragrances from the store on Jan. 19. Minnis was even wearing the same outfit.

Minnis initially gave detectives a fake name and refused to answer their questions or cooperate with the investigation.

Further investigation by detectives found Minnis used a fake credit card Wednesday to purchase designer fragrances and a designer handbag totaling $2,436.65.

Minnis was arrested and taken to the Collier County jail. He faces two counts of grand theft, obstruction, and knowingly giving false information to law enforcement.
