Virginia Beach crash victim died of gunshot wound, police say

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A man found injured after a single-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach was found by police officers to have suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders rushed the victim to the hospital, but he passed away en route. Police did not say whether the man was shot while driving or prior.

Here are the details released so far by the Virginia Beach Police Department:

On January 30, 2022, shortly after midnight, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded to the 600 Block of Oceana Boulevard for the report of a single-vehicle accident.  Upon arrival, they located an unresponsive male in a vehicle that had left the roadway. As the male was being assessed for injuries, it was discovered he was suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as Kevin Boone, a 50-year-old Virginia Beach resident, was transported by EMS to Virginia Beach General Hospital but succumbed from his injuries prior to arriving.
