Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Jackson

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – A Jackson Township woman was struck and killed while crossing Whitesville Road near White Road on Sunday police reported today.

According to the Jackson Police Department, at 9:12 pm, officers responded to White Road near the intersection of Whitesville Road on the report of a pedestrian who had been struck and CPR was in progress.

“The initial investigation revealed that a 66-year-old female resident of Jackson identified as Sabrina Ben-Porat was crossing the roadway in the area of 284 White Road when she was struck by a 2015 Dodge Durango being operated by a 22-year-old male resident of Toms River. The victim was pronounced at the scene,” said Captain Steven Laskiewicz.


Earlier, the Lakewood Scoop reported the woman was a member of the Orthodox Jewish community

The Jackson Police Department said the investigation is ongoing at this time and is being conducted by P.O.s Kevin Chesney, Robert Reiff and Andrew Lopez under the supervision of Sgt. Richard Bosley of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit. Anybody who may have witnessed the incident or who has information about it is asked to contact them at 732-928-1111.
