Philadelphia, PA
– Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task
Force arrested Moenell Coleman, 25, for attempted murder and related
crimes, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on February 4th in West Chester,
Pennsylvania. Coleman was wanted for a shooting which occurred January
26th 2022, in the unit block of N. 8th avenue in Coatesville, PA.
Coleman is accused of shooting a woman in her 20’s who had accidentally
bumped into him at a Coatesville Market located on East Lincoln Highway.
Coleman allegedly followed the woman home less than a block away from
the store and then fired multiple shots at her. A warrant was signed for
Coleman on January 26th and the fugitive case was delegated to the U.S.
Marshals Service Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force on January 31st,
2022.

On February 4th, Deputy Marshals developed
information Coleman may be hiding with a female associate on the campus
of West Chester University. Deputy Marshals then conducted surveillance
at the University Student Housing “Village Apartments” in the 100 block
of Carey Drive. A man matching Coleman’s description was observed going
into an apartment investigators suspected Coleman to be hiding at.
Members of the task force, the Chester County East Special Emergency
Response Team, and the West Chester University Police Department then
collectively worked together to arrest Coleman at the apartment without
incident. Coleman was then transported to the Chester County Prison
central booking for processing and arraignment.

Eric Gartner, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern
District of Pennsylvania, said “Moenell Coleman’s excessively violent
proclivities were a clear danger to the community. We appreciate the
opportunity to support the Coatesville Police Department and Chester
County Detectives in their continued endeavors to keep the public safe.”

The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a
team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia
and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out
and arrest violent crime fugitives.
