Austin, TX
– The U.S. Marshals have received custody of a woman
who had been sought on a Travis County Sheriff’s Office homicide warrant
issued Dec. 15, 2021, by an Austin municipal court judge.

Kathleen Wylumva Ngongoseke, 27, was apprehended
by foreign officials in the Republic of Tanzania.

Ngongoseke was charged with first-degree murder
following the discovery of her mother’s body at a south Travis County
home. TCSO deputies conducting a welfare check at the residence Dec. 9,
2021, found the woman wrapped in a blanket with stab wounds to her
chest. The TCSO requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Lone Star
Fugitive Task Force – Austin Division to locate and apprehend
Ngongoseke.

The LSFTF conducted a fugitive investigation and
learned Ngongoseke had fled the Austin area and boarded an international
flight from Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Task force personnel
then requested additional resources from the U.S. Marshals Office of
International Operations to assist with the investigation.

Republic of Tanzania law enforcement officers
located and arrested Ngongoseke on an immigration violation in December.
U.S. Marshals traveled to Dar es Salaam and took custody of Ngongoseke
at Julius Nyerere International Airport Feb. 7 and arrived at the John
F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, N.Y, Feb. 8. She was placed
in custody at a local jail facility until she can be extradited back to
Texas. Her bond is set at $500,000.
