Gunfire rings out in Lodi neighborhood, leaving one dead, prosecutor’s office

Lodi, NJ – Police responded to a shooting call on Victor Street Tuesday evening and reported a man shot and killed. According to witnesses, multiple gunshots rang out in the neighborhood.

“The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Lodi Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred at 9 Victor Street in Lodi on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  At 4:31 p.m., the Lodi Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting that shots had been fired at that address,” said Bergen County Assistant Prosecutor Elizabeth Rebein. “Responding officers found the 26-year-old victim, John Anthony DeLeon of Paterson, NJ, with multiple gunshot wounds.   He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.”

An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Lodi Police Department under the direction of Chief Donald Scorzetti.  No further information was released by Assistant Prosecutor Rebein.
