Hackensack teacher charged for sexual assault of Elmwood Park child

HACKENSACK, NJ – A Hackensack teacher has been charged after police investigated a claim that he had a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old child from Elmwood Park.

James Falletti was charged for endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact.

The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Elmwood Park Police Department under the direction of Chief Michael Foligno.


“On Monday, August 30, 2021, the Elmwood Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child,” Chief Foligno said. “A months-long investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Elmwood Park Police Department revealed that James Falletti sexually assaulted the child, who was younger than 16 years old,
On Monday, August 30, 2021, the Elmwood Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child.”

As a result of the investigation, on Monday, Falletti was arrested in Paramus, NJ.
