Del Rio Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Felons in One Day

DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Del Rio Sector arrested a convicted sex offender and a convicted murderer shortly after they illegally entered the United States, March 12.

At approximately 6:15 p.m., Carrizo Springs Station agents encountered a group of 10 near Carrizo Springs. During processing, record checks revealed a Mexican national, identified as Carlos De La Sancha-Rodriguez, 45, was previously arrested by the Orange County, California, Sheriff’s Office, in 1998, and convicted of lewd lascivious acts with a child. He was sentenced to 180 days confinement and removed from the United States in 1998.

At approximately 10:40 p.m., Eagle Pass Station agents apprehended a Mexican national near Eagle Pass. During processing, record checks revealed the individual, identified as Rosendo Lerma-Palma, 58, was previously arrested in Los Angeles in 1985 and convicted of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to 35 years confinement and was most recently removed from the United States in 2019.


Both face felony charges of re-entry after deportation. All subjects are processed in accordance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection policies.
