EVESHAM, NJ – One of the best investments for personal security a New Jersey homeowner can buy is a home security video system. One such system, Ring doorbells are not only deterring criminals but allowing homeowners to provide police with video evidence of the crimes being committed against them.

That was the case on St. Patrick’s Day in Evesham, this time, the suspects were in a stolen car and looking to steal another, police suspect.

According to police, at 4:30 AM, officers esponded to the unit block of John James Audubon Way for a report of a burglary.

“An investigation determined that the two suspects shown in the video attempted to enter the front door and rear sliding door of the residence, but were unsuccessful due to the doors being locked. The suspects then enter a vehicle in the driveway and utilized the garage door opener to open the garage door, but could not make entry into the house since the door leading into the home was locked,” the Evesham Police Department said in a statement.

According to the statement, the suspects were then confronted by the homeowner and the video released by the homeowner depicts the suspects fleeing the scene.

“Detectives were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle as a 2021 black BMW X5, and determined that the BMW was stolen from a Home Depot parking lot in Neptune Township, NJ on March 16th,” the department said. “It is believed that the suspect’s motive was to enter the home, locate vehicle keys, and steal the victim’s car.”
