Police find burglary suspect napping inside vehicle hours after foot pursuit

EDGEWATER, MD – Anne Arundel Police caught up with a suspect wanted for a Sunday morning burglary at Bay Country Crabbing on Solomons Island Road when they found him napping his his vehicle a few hours later.

According to police, on Sunday, at approximately 7:30 a.m. officers responded to Bay Country Crabbing on Solomons Island Road for an alarm.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the business had been burglarized and observed the suspect fleeing on foot. Officers engaged in a brief foot pursuit with the suspect before losing sight of him. Officers obtained surveillance video of the vehicle and suspect,” the department said in a statement.


Later in the morning, officers saw the suspect’s vehicle and moved in. Once again, he fled, this time unsuccessfully.

At approximately 11:00 a.m. the same day, officers located the suspect’s vehicle parked with the suspect sleeping inside,” the department said. “Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver awoke and fled in the vehicle. Officers followed the vehicle approximately one mile before the suspect stopped at a dead-end and once again, fled on foot.”

After an approximately 10-minute foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody. The vehicle the suspect was driving was stolen from another jurisdiction and evidence of the above burglary was recovered.

Stephonte Livingston, 26, of Washington, D.C. was arrested and charged with burglary and eluding police.
