Suspect in Annapolis home invasion assault captured by police

ANNAPOLIS, MD – A suspect wanted for a home invasion and assault was captured a short time later by responding police officers.

According to the Annapolis Police Department, on Monday, at approximately 3:49am, officers responded to the 200 block of South Southwood Ave. for a reported  home invasion.

“The suspect fled from the home prior to officers arriving but was located nearby during an area canvass.  According to the victim the suspect entered through the rear of the home and confronted the victim. The suspect assaulted the victim and demanded money before fleeing,” according to the Annapolis Police Department.


Police said a brief foot chase ensued but officers were able to apprehend the suspect and place him under arrest. The suspect was identified as Dustin Trevor Reed.

The victim was not seriously injured in this incident. Reed was charged accordingly and transported to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center.
