Juvenile Facing Charges After Forcibly Robbing 83-Year-Old Woman in Parking Lot

UTICA, NY – An 83-year-old woman was shaken up after a 17-year-old assailant forcibly robbed her in a parking lot outside her vehicle.

“On Saturday, at around 5:19 pm, Utica Police officers responded to a robbery incident that occurred in the parking lot of North Utica Shopping Center- 50 Auert Avenue.The eighty-three (83) victim told police that while she was in the parking lot outside her vehicle, an unknown black male, forcibly ripped the purse out of her hands and ran off towards Humphery Gardens Apartments. Fortunately, the victim was shaken up but not injured,” Utica Police reported.

Utica Police officers secured video evidence of the suspect and were able to identify the suspect, as a 17 years old who resided at Humphrey Gardens Apartments.


The 17-year-old was taken into police custody and charged with Robbery in the 3rd Degree. Pursuant to law, the juvenile was issued an appearance ticket and released to his mother.
