Chesapeake Police Department Says Online Buyers Welcome to Conduct Transfers at Police Precincts

CHESAPEAKE, MD – In an effort to provide a safe space for residents to conduct in-person transactions of online sales, the Chesapeake Police Department has offered residents to use their safe exchange locations throughout the city.

“Citizens who buy and sell on classified advertisement websites or social media sites should consider making these transactions in public locations that are well-lit and heavily traveled,” the department said.
“Citizens are welcome to utilize any of the six police precincts within the City to conduct these transactions either in the parking lot or precinct lobby, if available.”

Police say inviting a stranger or a person who is not well known into your home or going to a stranger’s home, potentially creates an unsafe situation with possible harmful results.
