NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ – Four teenagers were charged for riding around town and shooting people with paintball guns from their car.

According to the New Brunswick Police Department, on Tuesday at approximately 7:25 pm, New Brunswick officers investigated an assault with a paintball gun in the area of Railroad Avenue and another assault in the area of Feaster Park a short time later.

Based on interviews with the victims, a vehicle description was obtained and a matching vehicle was located nearby. Inside the vehicle officers identified four suspects and recovered a paintball gun, over 50 paintballs and multiple CO2 canisters used to shoot the paintball gun.

The suspects were identified as:

  1. Angel Cruz, 18 years of age from New Brunswick
  2. Jose Perez-Leyva, 18 years of age from New Brunswick
  3. Pedro Vasquez-Toribio, 19 years of age from New Brunswick
  4. 17-year-old juvenile from New Brunswick

Each adult suspect was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Criminal Mischief, and the juvenile was charged with juvenile delinquency. Although there was an attempt to cause injury, none were reported in either incident. The New Brunswick Police Department has been investigating several similar incidents over the last weeks. Detectives continue their investigations to determine if the previous assaults are related to last evening’s arrests.
