EDINBURG, Texas – Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol (RGV) agents and local law enforcement partners interdicted two migrant stash houses, two large groups, and encountered a vehicle crash and resulting vehicle fire.
On April 20, Rio Grande City Border Patrol Station (RGC) agents working in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a report of a possible migrant stash house in Roma. Agents and DPS troopers discovered six migrants at the residence who were unlawfully present in the U. S. The migrants were placed under arrest without incident and transported to the station.
Later that day, RGV agents received information of a suspected stash house in Edinburg. Agents and Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office deputies convened at the residence and discovered 11 migrants who were unlawfully present in the U.S., including two unaccompanied children: a 17-year-old Salvadoran female and an 11-year-old Mexican male. No caretaker was identified.
That evening, RGV agents near McCook observed a Ford F150 truck suspected of transporting migrants. The truck was discovered on fire after the vehicle was crashed through a private property gate. Agents apprehended 12 migrants unlawfully present in the U.S. after searching the area. The driver was not located. The San Isidro Fire Department was called and successfully extinguished the fire.
Additionally, RGC agents encountered two large groups totaling 356 noncitizens in Starr County. The groups consisted of 217 single adults, 102 family members, 37 unaccompanied children. The migrants are from Central and South America, and Cuba.
Border Patrol processed all subjects accordingly.
