Police Arrest Teen Who Shot 15-Year-Old Last Week in Stowe Township

STOWE TOWNSHIP, PA – A teenager shot last Wednesday in Stowe Township is recovering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and today, police captured his shooter.

“At approximately 3:50 p.m. on April 13, 2022, County 9-1-1 was notified of a shooting in the area of 9th Street and Gordon Alley,” police said. “First responders found a 15-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The victim was taken to an area hospital and survived his injury. Stowe Township Police requested the investigative assistance of the Allegheny County Police Homicide Unit. Detectives responded and initiated an investigation.”

Allegheny County Police determined 16-year-old Lamont Charles Thomas of McKees Rocks was the person responsible for the shooting.


According to court records, an arrest warrant was obtained for Thomas on Thursday. On Friday, at approximately 6:15 a.m., a search warrant was conducted at a residence on Marwood Avenue in Stowe Township by Stowe Township Police and the Allegheny County Police SWAT team. Thomas was present inside the residence during the service of the search warrant and was taken into custody. Recovered from the residence were three handguns, two bricks of suspected heroin, 14 grams of crack cocaine and $2,600 in U.S. currency.

Thomas was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment of another person and possession of a firearm by a minor. Thomas will be housed at the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment.
