Home on the Range: Gloucester Police Attend Semi-Annual Gun Training

Charlie Dwyer

Part of being a good cop is being well trained in your job and this week, the Gloucester Police Department headed to the range for their semi-annual firearms and skills training sessions.

“Every Gloucester Township Police Officer and SLEO Class II Officer is required to conduct semi-annual training on the use and safety of firearms and conductive energy devices (CED/Taser),” the department said. “They also train on the use of de-escalation techniques, use of force, and tactical skills training in the classroom and out on the range. Also in the classroom, GTPD Officers review the vehicular pursuit policy.”

This takes place at the GTPD Training Facility, and officers are trained by the GTPD Professional Development Bureau Training Officers.
