A Republican candidate for governor in Oregon posted videos of alleged Antifa members attacking his Portland campaign rally Saturday on social media.

Republican Mayor Stan Pulliam of Sandy, Oregon, who is running for the Republican Party of Oregon’s gubernatorial nomination, posted the footage on Twitter Saturday. The videos show masked demonstrators in black throwing smoke bombs and blowing whistles.

“This is what happens when a Republican dares to hold an event in Portland to talk about funding our police,” Pulliam said in his initial post. “Antifa shows up.”

Pulliam posted a thread on Twitter with more videos of the incident and the aftermath.

Pulliam told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an email that “our security on the ground” who had “dealt with Antifa many times in the past” confirmed the left-wing group was present.

Scott Castleman, president of Corporate Crime Control Protective Services who was hired to run security for Pulliam’s event, told the DCNF he believed the attackers were affiliated with Antifa based on his experience protecting journalists during the summer of 2020.

“What I can say is that this attack was dangerous and people were hurt,” he said.

Other social media posts also appeared to show footage of the incident.

“One adult male had an injury to the hand, an adult female complained of hearing loss,” the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement released Saturday, “There was also evidence balloons filled with paint and/or other substances were thrown at people and vehicles.”

Pulliam issued a press release Sunday announcing measures “to end Antifa’s control of Portland for good.”

The Portland Police Bureau, Mayor Ted Wheeler, and the office of Democratic Oregon governor Kate Brown did not respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
