Prosecutor’s Office SVU Team Honored on National Nurses Day

MORRISTOWN, NJ – The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office SART Team was honored by the community for their service on National Nurses Day.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office issued the following statement:

On May 4, 2022, First Assistant Prosecutor Maggie Calderwood and Chief of Detectives Christoph Kimker presented a commendation to Alexis Rachel, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sexual Assault Response Team Coordinator (SART)/Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE).


SART/FNE Rachel was commended for her commitment, compassion and unwavering professionalism in the performance of duties over the last six years. Rachel is responsible for providing services to victims of sexual assault within Morris County, recruiting and training all FNEs, completing and participating in the FNE on-call schedule and providing training to local law enforcement, advocates, and medical staff. She presently manages a team of 11 nurses, serves as co-chair of the Morris County Title IX Coalition and manages the SANE/SART grants and FNE agreements. In 2021, there were 67 requests for the FNE services, of those, 32 handled by Rachel. This year to date, there have been 24 requests for services with 12 handled by Rachel.

First Assistant Prosecutor Calderwood said, “Your abilities to conduct these duties in such a sensitive area while dealing with victims of sexual assaults is not only immeasurable to the victims of these assaults, but also to this office. Thank you for all you do in support of all the victims and their pursuit of justice.”

Prosecutor Robert Carroll also wished to express his sincere appreciation for Ms. Rachel’s dedication and for the empathy she and her team bring to these sensitive matters.

Prosecutor Carroll said, “Alexis’ professionalism and skills have consistently assisted our office and I formally commend her efforts and know our communities are well served by a person of her integrity and skills.”
