UTICA, NY – Police in Utica are investigating a double shooting that took place Thursday night at 8:30 pm near the 900 block of Saratoga Street. Police arrived to find two male gunshot victims.

“Upon arrival, officers learned that one victim was struck in the leg, and the other in the back,” the Utica Police Department said. “They were quickly transported by The Utica Fire Department to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for treatment, and due to the excellent care provided by the UFD and St. Elizabeth’s personnel both victims are expected to survive.”

Through the investigation it was learned that suspects approached a group of individuals from the yards on the east side of the street and began firing, ultimately striking the two victims and then fled the same way, police reported.

“We are seeking any surveillance footage of the nearby streets,” police said, asking residents to send alert them to any video that could help them in their investigation.
