MORRISTOWN, NJ – Police have announced an arrest has been made after a woman was sexually assaulted and robbed along the Traction Line Recreation Trail. Two teenagers have been arrested for the sexual assault that took place last Tuesday in Morristown.

On May 6, 2022, a 17-year-old juvenile male and an adult, Lizandro Osorio-Mejia, age 18, were arrested and charged with sexual assault. Police said the case was solved through the help of the public after news media and social media posts were made.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll detailed the event.

“At approximately 3:41 p.m., on the Traction Line Recreation Trail in Morristown, two males approached a female and asked for money,” Carrol said. “When the female victim did not provide money, one of the males pushed the victim to the ground and sexually assaulted her while the other male stood nearby. It is alleged that that male who pushed the victim to the ground was armed with a rock at the time he sexually assaulted her. Thereafter, both suspects fled the area. Both suspects were unknown to the victim.”
