Fourth Suspect Wanted for Homicide and Taking a Man Hostage in Basement Arrested

Canton, OH – This evening, members of the Northern Ohio Violent
Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested Andrew Williams, 28. Williams was
wanted by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office for complicity to commit
homicide.Canton Police originally found 32-year-old Joseph
Pomeroy, dead on the side of the road near the intersection of
Hardington Avenue NE and 12th Street NE in Canton. Jeremy Morlock, 43,
Clayton Smart, 24, and Mary Ann Soliday, 34, were all arrested in
connection to Pomeroy’s death. The Canton Police Department and Stark
County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on May 13 on a
residence near the 600 block of Correll Avenue NE in Canton, and
officers found a person held hostage in the basement. All three were
also charged with one count each of rape, kidnapping and felonious
assault in connection with the person held hostage. Morlock was charged
with one count of aggravated murder, and Smart, Soliday and Williams
were individually charged with one count of complicity to commit
aggravated murder.This evening, members of the NOVFTF and the
Canton Police Department arrested Williams at a residence near the 2000
block of Silent Court NW in Canton. Williams was seen looking out a
bedroom window upon NOVFTF contact. During the arrest attempt, Williams
barricaded himself in a bedroom inside the residence, resulting in the
Canton SWAT team being activated to the scene. Williams eventually
surrendered to officers and was arrested.U.S. Marshal Pete
Elliott stated, “The city of Canton is safer now that all four of these
suspects are locked away from the community. The crimes they are alleged
to commit are heinous and required swift law enforcement action.” Anyone with information concerning any wanted fugitive can contact
