ABSECON, NJ – When Absecon Police Officer Byrd saw a pair of grandparents struggling to pull their cart, along with their granddaughter from the beach on a hot Jersey Shore day, he stepped up and stepped in.

“Ptlm. Byrd was conducting a beach run and observed a young granddaughter with her grandparents walking off the beach. Ptlm. Byrd saw they were having difficulty pulling their belongings through the soft sand. Ptlm. Byrd took the time to get out of his vehicle and assist the family off of the beach. Thank you Ptlm. Byrd for your great act of kindness,” the department said today.
