CLIFTON, NJ – Out of an abundance of caution, Clifton Public School #3 was placed on lockdown on Tuesday while police were chasing a perpetrator who had fled officers nearby.

Police said there was no immediate threat to the school and the suspect was not in danger of entering the school, the lockdown was simply a precautionary measure.

“There is nothing wrong at Clifton PS #3. It is being locked down as officers are tracking an individual who fled from an incident in the area (on foot). The individual DID NOT enter the school and the school is not involved in this incident in any way,” police said.
