Armed Robber Hits Akron Dollar Store and Walgreens Minutes Apart

AKRON, OH – An armed robber robbed two Akron businesses at gunpoint within a 15-minute span, according to the Akron Police Department.

Now, detectives need the public’s help identifying the male suspect who robber two Copley Road businesses minutes apart yesterday afternoon.

“Officers responded to the first robbery at the Family Dollar, located in the 900 block of Copley Road, around 2:25 p.m. When they arrived, the suspect was already gone. According to store employees, the suspect entered the store, selected a pack of batteries, and approached the cashier. Once at the counter, the suspect pulled a handgun, pointed it at the cashier, and demanded money from the register. The armed man then reached over the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money from the register before he fled in an unknown direction,” the department said in a statement. “Approximately 15 minutes later, police believe the same man robbed a second store, Walgreens, located in the 1300 block of Copley Road, also at gunpoint. According to the clerk, the suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register. After the robbery, the robber fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money.”

Police said the suspect is described as an 18-25-year-old male, around 5’11” – 6’3”, and 150-160 pounds. He was wearing a black mask/head covering, a green long sleeve shirt, and black Nike Sweatpants with a white and red logo on his left leg.
