78-Year-Old Man Shot in Head, Killed by Neighbor in Kennedy Township

KENNEDY TOWNSHIP, PA – Police in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, are investigating a murder-suicide that took place in a rural community southeast of Pittsburgh Friday afternoon.

The Allegheny County Police Department responded to the report of a shooting in Kennedy Township at approximately 2:45 pm on Friday. That shooting took place in the backyard of a home at

“First responders found a 78-year-old male victim deceased outside of his residence from gunshot wounds. The Pittsburgh Police SWAT team was requested to assist in apprehending the suspect, a 58-year-old male, who lived next door,” police said. “The suspect was located inside his residence with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

There are no additional suspects. Homicide detectives initiated an investigation.
