Purse Snatcher in Greenwich Sought After She Fled in Getaway SUV

GREENWICH, CT – Police in Greenwich are searching for a woman who attempted to steal several purses, but was thwarted by good samaritans nearby. As she fled the business on Mason Street, she and a bystander were struck by her getaway driver.

Earlier this afternoon, the pictured subject entered a business on Mason Street and attempted to steal several purses. She was interrupted by several bystanders and ran from the store. The suspect, and another bystander, were then struck by a dark-colored SUV operated by a black male. This SUV was there to pick up the pictured suspect.

The driver of the SUV displayed a handgun before both subjects fled in the SUV. It is unknown at this time if the suspect was injured, but the bystander suffered non-life-threatening injuries.


This case is being investigated by the Detective Division. Detectives are currently following up several leads.
