by Phil Stilton

SOUTH PARK, PA – Residents of Allegheny County formed a line around the block at the Allegheny County Sherrif’s Department headquarters building this weekend after the Supreme Court decision to remove the requirement for justification was made.

“The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office continued efforts on Saturday to make the process of applying for a license to carry accessible and efficient by holding an event in South Park. Throughout the day, county residents lined up to apply for licenses starting at 8:00 AM. At the end of the day, 917 licenses were issued by the Office,” the department said.

Sheriff Kevin Kraus thanked all those who attended as well as the South Park Police Department and Community Center for making this event possible.

The next satellite event will be held on Saturday, July 16th at the North Fayette Community Center in Oakdale, PA. The Sheriff’s Office has also scheduled three more events to occur once a month through October.
