48-Year-Old Man Shot And Killed Near Visitor Center in Baltimore's Inner Harbor

BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore’s Inner Harbor has been viewed mostly as a safe destination away from the gun violence that surrounds it on all sides of the city, but on Thursday, gunfire erupted, killing a 48-year-old man on a popular street corner near the Baltimore Visitor Center.

At approximately 4:38 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Light Street and Conway Street to investigate a reported shooting.

“When officers arrived at the scene, they located 48-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead by medical personnel shortly after arrival,” police said. “Baltimore Police Department Homicide detectives have assumed control over the investigation. Investigators learned that the shooting occurred after an altercation erupted. The suspect fled the intersection on foot.”

Investigators are currently combing through area surveillance footage and urge anyone that may have captured video cellphone footage of the incident or have information to contact detectives at 410-396-2100.
