Camden, N.J.– A 19-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday night in Camden and police are still searching for a suspect.

According to police, Malik Nath, 19, was found shot by officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert in the neighborhood in the vicinity of South 8th Street.

Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said on Thursday, at around 10:02 p.m., officers from the Camden County Metro Police Department responded to the 1900 block of South 8th Street, Camden, New Jersey, in reference to a ShotSpotter activation and 911 calls for an individual who was shot. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.


Detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and the Camden County Metro Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene and began an investigation.

Nath was pronounced deceased by Dr. Chovanes at approximately 10:22 p.m. on June 7, 2022.
