Wilkes-Barre Teens Fled Police While Driving Stolen Car

WILKES-BARRE, PA – One juvenile was arrested and several others fled the scene after being caught by police joyriding in a stolen car.

On Tuesday, at approximately 8:53 am, police were dispatched to check on a group of suspicious juveniles in a vehicle in the area of 32 Larch Lane.

“Upon arrival, it was determined that the vehicle had left but was determined to be reported stolen out of the borough of Ashley, Pennsylvania,” police reported. “Police officers later received information that the stolen vehicle was in the area of 16 Larch Lane. Upon arrival on Larch Lane the vehicle was observed to be occupied by several juveniles. They immediately fled from the stolen vehicle on foot abandoning the vehicle which rolled back into the police unit.”


Officers were able to take one of the juvenile occupants into custody after a brief resistance.

Ashley Police were notified and arrived on the scene to take custody of the stolen vehicle.

“Upon further investigation, the juvenile that was taken into custody had several items in his possession which appeared to have been possibly stolen from other vehicles,” police reported. “The items were described as Keys on a lanyard, a fob, and other assorted keys, lighters, glasses.”
