Police Identify Suspect After Mother of 5-Year-Old Child Killed in Columbus Shooting Crossfire

COLUMBUS, OH – Police in Columbus have announced the name of a suspect and released photos of others involved in the fatal shooting of a mom on East Broad Street on July 16th.

One of the suspects in this Homicide has been identified as Kyrim A. Curenton.  Warrants for his arrest have been issued.

On July 16, 2022, at approximately 8:41pm, officers were dispatched to the 3200 Block of E. Broad St. on the report of a shooting.   A Good Samaritan provided aid to the victim until Columbus Police Officers, Columbus Fire EMS 14 and Whitehall Medic 152 arrived.  The victim was transported to Mt. Carmel East Hospital in critical condition.  Despite receiving lifesaving medical treatment the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 11:07pm.  The victim was in between two groups of suspects shooting at each other and was struck by the gunfire.

“The victim, a mother of a five year old, was killed when two separate parties recklessly exchanged gunfire,” according to a police report. “The victim was seated in her vehicle when she was struck by an errant bullet.  Detectives have obtained video evidence in this homicide and are asking for assistance from our community partners in identifying three additional persons of interest in this case.”
