Westfield Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

WESTFIELD, NJ – The following incidents took place in Westfield between July 17th and July 23rd, 2022. The incident represent just a small portion of police calls during that period.

  • A resident of the 1200 block of Boynton Avenue reported that their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle that was parked in the driveway. The approximate value of the catalytic conveter is $2,000.00.

  • A resident of the 100 block of North Wickom Drive reported a theft of money from her checking and savings account. She went on to state that between the hours of 1000 hours and 1300 hours on 7/18/2022, an unknown actor(s) made an in person withdrawal from her bank savings and checking account. She stated that at approximately 1000 hours, her checking account had a balance of $4,023.72 and at approximately 1300 hours, she realized her account had a balance of $534.50. She then checked her savings account, which had a balance of $7,601.69 at approximately 1000 hours and at approximately 1300 hours, the account had a balance of $2,801.09. The total amount of money taken from the account was approximately $8,289.82.

  • A report of a stolen bicycle was received by the Westfield Police Department. The victim’s family member was observing the actor riding the bicycle on South Ave in Westfield. The actor continued into Fanwood with the witness stilling observing him. A Scotch Plains Police Officer as well as Westfield Police Officers stopped the actor in Fanwood on North Ave. A positive identification of the bicycle in possession of the actor was made by the victim. the actor was placed under arrested and transported to Westfield Police Headquarters. Juan Urbina-Albana was processed and was to be released on summons. However, it was learned he was a wanted person by the Union County Sheriff’s.

  • Juan Urbina-Albana was arrested at Westfield Police Headquarters on the strength of an outstanding warrant, NCIC, from Union County Sheriff’s Department. Juan Urbina-Albana was at police headquarters already in custody on an unrelated matter. While processing Juan Urbina-Albana the warrant, NIC W876335407, was discovered. Juan Urbina-Albana was subsequently transported to Union County Jail where he was committed.

  • Henry Ayala was arrested at Westfield Police Headquarters on the strength of an outstanding warrant, NCIC, from Union County Sheriff’s Department. Henry Ayala was at police headquarters already being investigated on an unrelated matter. While investigating Henry Ayala the warrant, NIC W876335407, was discovered. Henry Ayala was subsequently transported to Union County Jail where he was committed.

  • Nine (9) barricades belonging to the Town of Westfield were defaced. The barricades were damaged when unknown actor(s) applied red spray paint to the barricades. The cost of the damage to the barricades is unknown at this time.

  • A resident of the 900 block of Highland Avenue reported a suspicious vehicle. According to the resident an unknown white male operating a black pickup was observed taking photographs of his residence. Actor remained in his vehicle while taking the photographs and drove away traveling southbound.

  • During the early morning hours of 07/22/2022, a resident of the 0-100 block of Breeze Knoll Drive alerted the Westfield Police Department of an adult female who appeared to be unsteady on her feet and dropping many items while walking. Officers arrived to perform a welfare check and attempted to identify the female. At this time the subject gave false information to officers on scene. Through further investigation Officers found the female, Brittany Skrocki, 35, of Fanwood, to have an outstanding warrant out of the Union County Sheriffs Department. Skrocki then attempted to flee the scene on foot before being quickly apprehended. Skrocki was found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, glassine folds of suspected heroin and a “stun gun” taser. Skrocki was transported to Westfield Police Headquarters where she was processed on Westfield Police Department charges that were placed on a summons. She has a pending Union County Superior Court Date for all Westfield related charges. Union County Sheriff’s Department took custody of Skrocki for processing on their warrant.

  • A business owner of a company located in the 500 block of Sherwood Parkway reported an incident of fraud. According to the business owner, an unknown actor(s) hacked his company e-mail and and used the company e-mail address to solicit payments from his clients. At the time of this investigation the company and it’s clients suffered no monetary loss.

  • A resident of the 600 block of Carleton Drive reported an incident of identity theft and fraud. Resident stated that he received a mail notification from his bank advising him that an unknown actor attempted to open a fraudulent account in his name. The bank was able to cancel the account and resident suffered no monetary loss.
