Newark Robbery and Assault Suspect Arrested

NEWARK, NJ – A man wanted for an assault and robbery in May in the city of Newark has been arrested.

Police issued the following statement on the arrest:

Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave III reports the arrest of Malik A. Greene, 34, of Newark, who robbed and assaulted a victim on May 5, 2022.


Police responded to a report of an assault that occurred at approximately 5:05 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Elliott Street. When police arrived, the victim was on the ground bleeding from injuries to the back of his head and mouth.

The victim was attacked by two men who were captured on surveillance video punching him in the face several times. At one point he was slammed to the pavement and his cell phone was taken.

Greene, later identified as one of the suspects, was also charged with conspiracy.
