Westfield Police Blotter: Here’s What’s Happening

WESTFIELD, NJ – The Westfield Police Department has issued the following reports regarding police activity in the community between July 24 to July 30, 2022. The information provided does not represent the total scope of police activity.

  • A resident from the 1300 block of Overhill Street reported his vehicle was stolen from his driveway. The victim stated his vehicle was last seen at his residence on 07/23/22 at approximately 22:30 hours and later discovered it was missing on 07/24/22 at approximately 00:20 hours. The stolen vehicle was described as a 2019 black Land Rover SUV.
  • A resident reported that his vehicle was stolen at approximately 15:20 hours on Saturday, July 23, 2022. The vehicle, described as a 2020 white BMW X7 valued at approximately $90,000.00, was parked in the resident’s driveway at the time of theft. The resident indicated that the keys for the vehicle were left inside the vehicle at the time of theft. Additionally, approximately $2,290.00 worth of miscellaneous personal property items contained within the vehicle were also stolen.

  • A resident of Onedia Drive reported that he was defrauded out of $18,000.00 when a suspect contacted him stating that his grandson needed a bail bond. The resident then placed $18,000.00 in cash in multiple envelopes and gave it to the suspect who was a tall stocky black male wearing a red sweatshirt with a bright colored vest and was wearing a mask with glasses.
  • A black Trek mountain bicycle was found abandoned in the area of the 900 block of Saint Marks. The owner of the bicycle is unknown at this time.
  • The victim reports their bicycle was stolen from the area of the South Side Train Station. The victim reports that they locked their bicycle at the South Side Train Station and upon their return they observed the lock to have been cut and the bicycle to be stolen. The value of the bicycle is approximately $250.00 and the value to replace the damage lock was reported to be $20.00.

  • A Westfield resident reported his bicycle being stolen from the North Side Train Lot on 07/29/2022. The bicycle, described as a silver, CB-26, Sun Cruiser, Gravity EZ, bicycle with foam grip with a total value of $419.00 was left in the bicycle rack on 07/27/2022 at approximately 0800 hours. The bicycle was observed to be missing during the evening hours of 07/29/2022.
  • Officers Picciano and Jacques conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Silver Honda Pilot reported stolen. Kenyanderson Magalha, the driver, was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Burglary Tools and Hindering Apprehension. Yure Ribeiro De Paulo, Gabriel Goncalves and Luiz Arcanjo-Alves were charged with Unlawful Taking of Means of Conveyance, Burglary Tools and Hindering Apprehension. A juvenile was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop and was subsequently charged with Unlawful Taking of Means of Conveyance and Burglary Tools. All parties were issued summons with a mandatory court date. Gabriel Goncalves had an outstanding warrant form Delanco Township in which he was released from with a new court date.
  • An anonymous person handed over found property on 07/31/2022. The property, described as a black Cash App money card, was found in Mindowaskin Park. The card was placed into a secure locker for safekeeping.

  • A resident of the 600 block of South Chestnut Street reported a burglary to her motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the resident’s driveway on 07/30/2022 at approximately 1800 hours and was found to be burglarized on 07/31/2022 at approximately 1435 hours. The vehicle was entered and a theft of a wallet and its contents was committed within. The wallet was valued at approximately $200.00. Several credit cards within the wallet were used for unauthorized purchases in various locations within the state of New Jersey totaling approximately $142.00.
  • On 07/30/22 at 20:10 hours found property was brought to police headquarters for safe keeping. The property is described as a brown Michael Kors wallet which contained $9.58 in US currency and other miscellaneous cards. The wallet was turned in by a person who wished to remain anonymous. The wallet contained no identifying information of the owner.
  • On 07/30/22 at 20:30 hours resident from 600 block of Shadowlawn Drive reported an attempted motor vehicle theft. The suspect is described as black male wearing black pants, black hooded sweatshirt, and a surgical mask entered his vehicle and attempted to start the engine. Suspect fled in a waiting black Mercedes when he was unable to start the vehicle.

  • On 07/30/22 between the hours of 19:30 and 22:44 hours resident from 800 block of Stevens Avenue reported his vehicle was stolen. The vehicle was parked in front of residence when the theft occurred. Vehicle was described as a blue Alfa Romeo.
