16-Year-Old Killed in Hit and Run in Yonkers

Yonkers, NY – A 16-year-old was killed in a hit and run incident after midnight, early Wednesday police have reported.

“The Yonkers Police Department is presently investigating a fatal hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning, August 3rd, in the area 660 McLean Avenue,” the Yonkers Police Department said in a statement.

“A 16-year-old Archbishop Stepinac High School student was struck by a van that fled the scene. It is with great sadness we inform that the youth passed away earlier today,” police reported.

Yonkers Police Detectives have located the van and have a suspect in custody; criminal charges are anticipated.

The department will announce more details regarding this incident at a later time, a spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.
