Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Charge in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Police Department has taken another illegal gun off the streets of the city after making a traffic stop on Wednesday.

According to police, at around 3:09 A.M., Officer Fellows conducted a proactive traffic stop in the 800 block of Park Street. Officer Delucia also responded to assist.

“Officers stopped and interacted with the driver of a Lincoln MKZ for multiple traffic violations. The driver, Khiair Jones, 24, was discovered to be operating his vehicle with no license,” the department said. “Upon a later search of the car, Officers found a loaded 380 caliber Ruger handgun.”

The gun was found underneath the driver’s seat. In the end, Jones was arrested and booked for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and multiple traffic tickets.
