D.C. Police Solve 30 year-Old Cold Case Murder

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department have made an arrest in the shooting death of a 39 year-old woman that took place on October 23rd, 1993. This incident happened in the area of 4thStreet and Trenton Street. 39-year-old Debra McManus, of Southeast, D.C. was identified as the victim.

According to detectives, “On October 23rd, 1993, At approximately 7:05 am, members of the Seventh District located an adult female, unconscious and unresponsive, in a wooded area, at the listed location. The victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The decedent’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy was performed. As a result, the cause of death was determined to be asphyxia due to manual strangulation and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.”

58-year-old William Ransford of Southeast, D.C was arrested on Thursday and charged with Second Degree Murder.
